Why We Give Local?

Over 30% of families in Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, and Jasper Counties earn above the Federal Poverty Level, yet not enough for basic needs despite working full-time or multiple jobs.​​

 

53% of area workers have low wages with a median hourly wage of $9.94. 

 

Families must choose between childcare, groceries, utilities, or rent.

 Food insecurity is projected to be 40% higher this year. 

 

32,000 individuals in the Low Country won’t have enough food for active,healthy lives. 9,530 are children. 

 

Housing costs have increased dramatically since 2020. Rents in Beaufort County are up 43%. 7th highest nationwide.

Helping to end the generational poverty that ensnares families and individuals in the Low Country counties of Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton and Hampton.

Give our neighbors in need the tools and support to build a better future for themselves and their families. Our Mission is specifically focused on the categories of Hunger, Housing, Health and Education.

Our Story

Started as Project Santa Clause raising donations of a few thousand dollars 25 years ago.

Since our start we have raised over $2.1M.

In the last three years we have raised $1.28M or 61% of all donations

CRCF is not a stand alone 501c3 - we are an agent for the Community Foundation of the Low Country who is a 501 c3 non profit
