The Children’s Center
Provide affordable high-quality early childhood education and childcare services for working families

Classroom volunteer. These a people who come weekly (generally, this can be flexible for those that travel or have the LC as a 2nd home) and provide a second set of hands in the classroom. These folks can rock babies, read to Preschoolers and everything in-between.
Volunteer support for several festivals on island and that support drives a contribution – in leu of volunteer hours to our Center. Generally, we work entrance and serve as ambassadors along with collecting the entry fees. This is generally on a Saturday and happens about 5 times a year. We also use volunteers to help us work ticket tables during Belk Charity Days weekends.

Family Promise Beaufort County
To provide temporary shelter, family stability and permanent housing solutions for homeless families with children mobilizing resources from interfaith and secular community

Office Volunteers- Assist with light administrative tasks like answering phones, data entry, supporting staff with daily operations.
Movers- Assist with the safe and efficient transport of furniture and household items, including loading, unloading, and potentially setting up furniture.
Tutors- Provide invaluable support and enrichment to participants in grades K-12. Offer individual or small group attention helping with homework and extend children’s understanding and supporting what was learned within the classroom.
Overnight Host -Engage and interact with residents, and help enforce policies ensure residents have a secure night.
Meal Prep- Prepare and package nutritious meals for participants. Meals are needed Monday- Friday. Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator for available days.
Drivers- Provide transportation for participants, who may lack access to transportation options. Responsible for taking participants to appointments, interviews, work, and school.
Cooking Demonstrators- Offer their culinary expertise, or registered dietitian prepares a dish or a series of dishes in front of an audience, explaining the process as they go along.

Office volunteer would be assigned tasks according to their strengths, including organization, searching for grants, sorting donations, and other odd jobs. Learning Center Volunteer could do tasks from helping to prepare snack, donating the snack, cleaning and readying the center for students, helping at special events, and helping the students with homework, tutors to help the students with reading, math, and language arts-grades PreK-8th. From 3:30 -5: 00pm each day, the volunteer will assist in a classroom with students to help them complete their homework or do academic enrichment.
